She married the 2024 US Open finalist in 2016 when she was 18, welcomed a son, Jordan, in 2017 when she was 19, and divorced in 2019 when she was 21.
The reason behind the divorce is yet to be made public. Nonetheless, she and her ex-husband have maintained a cordial relationship for co-parenting. There are interesting things you need to know about her.
Background Of Raquel Pedraza
Raquel Pedraza was born on January 28, 1998, in Fountain Valley, California. She is the younger of two children and has an older brother. Regarding her family’s background and parents’ names, nothing is known, but some sources claim her father is Mexican while her mother is American.
Additionally, we discovered that “Raquel” is a Spanish variant of the Hebrew name Rachel, which has Portuguese origins, and “Pedraza” is a Spanish name commonly used by people in Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina.
As for her education, no reports have indicated the names of the schools she attended or the level of education she achieved.
She Fell In Love With Tennis At A Tender Age
Pedraza developed a passion for tennis from a young age. In 2003, when she was 5, she was instantly drawn to tennis after watching her older brother play and decided to play too. From that moment, she held onto the racquet and went on to play in several ITF events, the third-tier level of women’s tennis.
Despite her passion and determination, she didn't win any major tennis titles. Additionally, she participated in some singles and doubles ITF competitions between 2012 and 2015.
In 2012, she competed in two ITF/USTA doubles events in Amelia Island, US, in September and Gainesville, Florida, in October, reaching the round of 16 and the quarterfinals, respectively. The following year, she and her partner lost in a round of 16 ITF/USTA doubles event in Austin, Texas, to R. Ellison and S. Ellison.
In May 2013, she competed in her first ITF singles event at Quintana Roo, Mexico, where she defeated N. Totka in the round of 32 and E. Raszkiewicz in the round of 16 before losing to A. Sanchez in the quarterfinals. Two years later, she competed in another ITF/USTA singles event in Rancho Santa Fe, California, defeating K. Vyrlan in the first round but losing to D. Herdzeles in the second round.
Raquel Pedraza Married Taylor Fritz in 2016
In July 2016, Raquel Pedraza and Taylor Fritz had a traditional wedding in Rancho Santa Fe, California, which was largely private. At the time of the wedding, both were not even 20 yet, as Pedraza was 18 years and 6 months old, while Fritz was 2 months shy of his 19th birthday. A month before the wedding, the two got engaged after the tennis player proposed to her in Paris, under the Eiffel Tower.
She Had Her Son Jordan 6 Months After the Wedding
In January 2017, Pedraza gave birth to her only son, Jordan, exactly 6 months after her wedding. The month she gave birth to Jordan, is the month she marked her 19th birthday; however, it is unknown if they share the same day. Just like any mother would, the Fountain Valley native cared for her son, which Fritz appreciated. During a post-championship press conference in March 2017, he mentioned how she had stepped in and was doing everything she could for him and his tennis career.
Pedraza And Fritz Divorced After 3 Years of Marriage
In December 2019, Pedraza and Fritz divorced after three years of marriage. To this day, the reason for the divorce remains unknown. However, both have maintained a cordial relationship as they share custody of their son and are raising him as co-parents.
Following the divorce, Pedraza has moved on with her life and stepped away from the public eye. She has not given any clues about being in other relationships. On the other hand, her ex-husband has returned to the dating pool. He has been in a relationship with fashion influencer Morgan Riddle since June 2020, six months after his divorce.
